EQUAL! is an educational and support group that addresses workplace environment issues affecting employees who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered or who have family, friends or colleagues who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered.

Our mission is to advocate a work environment that is inclusive and supportive of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered employees--enabling all employees to perform to their fullest potential. EQUAL! is a resource serving our customers, shareholders, colleagues, families and the global community in which we work and live. EQUAL! commits to advancing change that will help people respect and value differences, thus allowing employees to achieve our vision.

The goals of EQUAL! are to:

• make our company a more productive and comfortable place for all employees, regardless of sexual or affectional orientation and gender identity or expression
• provide support and advocacy for employees, together with their families and loved ones, in issues regarding sexual or affectional orientation and gender identity or expression
• foster diversity in the workplace
• sponsor educational programs on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered issues
• promote a sense of community among our members

EQUAL! membership is open to all Alcatel-Lucent employees, both active and retired. You can join EQUAL! by joining one of our local chapters.

EQUAL! is a recognized Alcatel-Lucent Employee Business Partner (EBP) and has the support of corporate AA/EEO officials.

Since some of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered members of EQUAL! may not feel comfortable being "out" in the workplace, membership lists remain private. All members agree to respect and maintain the privacy of other members in the organization.
